Poundland to Close 68 UK Stores after High Court Battle
Poundland is set to proceed with further store closures following court approval for a significant restructuring plan. Back in June, the budget retail chain announced plans to permanently close 68 stores after being sold by Pepco Group to Peach Bidco, a subsidiary of private equity firm Gordon Brothers, for just £1.
On Tuesday, the company informed a judge that this plan would prevent it from going into administration, with barristers stating during a hearing that without the scheme’s approval, the company was likely to run out of funds by September 7.
