The Accelerator Programme has been a “cornerstone” of the development of the digital sector in the Tees Valley and has supported many local digital companies over the last 15 years. The deadline for applications to the DigitalCity Accelerator Programme is September 12.

The Accelerator Programme is designed for early-stage Tees Valley based digital and tech companies who want to “take their business to the next level”. The programme is free to eligible companies and includes seven interactive weekly workshops delivered by digital industry experts.

BDaily News are reporting that early-stage startups can benefit from business support through workshops, mentoring and a grant of up to £5,000 funded through ERDF to go towards the launch of a new product or service, or to build the digital offering of the business.

Beth Munby, director at Close-Knit CIC, has benefited from the Accelerator Programme. She said: “The knowledge I have gained from experts and business colleagues through DigitalCity Accelerator workshops has been invaluable to me as a business leader and to my business.”

Fellow Accelerator alumni Guy Jones, CEO of Typical Gaming, added: “The Accelerator Programme was the catalyst to realise my flagship project from an idea that began at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It provided me with valuable time out of my technical role to develop my skills as a business leader, giving me much-needed time to work on the business and not just in it.”

Scott Watson, sector growth manager at DigitalCity, concluded: “I am excited to welcome our next cohort to the Accelerator Programme and am looking forward to providing this transformational opportunity to Tees Valley early-stage tech/digital startups to promote the growth of their business.

“The Accelerator Programme equips business leaders with the knowledge and confidence they need to tackle challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the early stages of their business.”
