Jesmond chef Dave Coulson is enjoying a second serving of success in a global website’s pick of the UK’s best restaurants. The culinary star – and former MasterChef finalist – is delighted to see his Peace and Loaf restaurant singled out as one of Britain’s best by the booking website OpenTable, which draws up an annual list of the Top 100 Best UK Restaurants based on customer reviews.
Peace and Loaf has made the list for the second year running and is the only one in the North East to earn a place this time around.
On hearing the news, County Durham-born Dave – a finalist who opened his highly-regarded restaurant after his appearance on TV series Masterchef: The Professionals landed him in the national spotlight in 2010 – was quick to thank his team – and those all-important customers.
He said: “Our team have worked incredibly hard over the past 12 months to ensure each and every single one of our diners enjoys their experience at Peace and Loaf. From our front-of-house staff to the guys in the kitchen, everyone plays an important part. I would also like to thank everyone who left us a positive review on OpenTable as we wouldn’t have made this list if it wasn’t for you!”
He added: “The list is completely dominated by London based restaurants so we are proud to represent the North.”
The Top 100 list is compiled from more than 730,000 verified OpenTable diner reviews which have been written over the past 12 months.
The Jesmond restaurant has been celebrating a run of success recently, including its being named in October as a runner-up in the Best Restaurant and Best Sunday Lunch in the Observer Food Monthly awards, and as a finalist in the North East Restaurant of the Year in the Food Awards England 2018.
